Psalm 119:105-112 Thy Word is a Lamp unto my Feet

God's word is indeed a lamp for our feet, showing us the way forward, the narrow way, the path of life. And yet it is not the only way we know of God and God's vision for life. The creation also teaches us about God. If we believe in God as Creator, then perhaps even the primary resource for knowing God is through the creation, the work of God's hands.

Matthew 13:1-9,18-23 A Sower went out to Sow

While there are many meanings in this familiar story, certainly one of then must be the wonderful power of Earth to produce, as with minimal work seed produces up to 100 fold.

How are we doing at nurturing this fertility of the Lake Superior watershed? If we were to go out to scatter seed, how much of it would fall on parking lots, on 5 acre single dwelling front lawns, on soil laced with toxic chemicals, on mono-culture fields and forests, on "good" ground?

A prayer

Dear God, your creation provides generously all that we need. Help us live gently within it, as faithful members of it, so that it might continue to provide for future generations. Amen.
